We were so blessed to be able to spend the week at Conscience Point in October. October is always OBX month for us, and this year we decided to give Conscience Point a try. We either rent a house or bring our camper, but with the price of gas this year we went with the house rental. We are SO glad we did. Conscience Point had something for everyone! My husband and I, and his brother, wife and 16 year old daughter all stayed in the house, along with our small dogs. Everyone absolutely loved this house. There are so many levels and areas of the house that you could spend days without getting in each other's way. There is SO much to do at the house, that you really feel bad when you leave to do "touristy" things. We loved the heated pool and hot tub, and the sport court was awesome! Even me, the non-athlete, enjoyed shooting hoops out there. In fact, one day two little boys from down the street called to us over the fence, saying how much they wished "their" house had a court like that! One of our favorite things about the house is the fact that there is a separate area outside where we could let our dogs roam around, without worrying about them getting out. The "fence" is more like a wall, and goes all the way to the ground. We never had to worry about our little fur children, and they had so much fun sniffing out various parts of the yard. We have always stayed in ocean-front homes, and this one is not, however there are unobstructed views of the sound, and you can see the ocean from the top front deck. We absolutely did NOT mind this house not being ocean-front, and in fact preferred the sunsets on the sound since we are not early morning risers and would have missed those sunrises anyway! The location of the house also means EASY walking distance to stores and our favorite restaurant (Uncle Pauley's is just across the street). Beach access is also a very easy walk down the paved residential street, and over the small dune. We truly felt at home in Conscience Point and treated it as our own. The shower in the upstairs master is to die for, the beds are all super comfy (and I have a bad back, so am really picky about mattresses!), the entertainment system is fabulous. As the woman at the rental office said when I picked up the keys, "You are going to LOVE that house - the owners have thought of EVERYthing...all that STUFF...you'll never run out of things to do!" And how right she was. We felt like we really needed two plus weeks to fully appreciate everything the house has to offer. I truly cannot say enough good things about this home. It has everything anyone could want, and so much more. Thank you Matt and Sarah for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. We will never forget our stay at Conscience Point, and will always cherish the memories made there. --The Clark Families (Nashville and Chattanooga, TN)

We just got back from our vacation dated June 9-16. This was our first experience to the Outer Banks, and we LOVED IT! We have a family of 8 (5 boys (ages 15-5) and 1-1yr old girl), and my sister's family of 3 came too. We have a hard time booking vacations with such a large crew, especially for just our family, but we had more than enough room to have our own space and hang out together as well. The house is beautiful. We especially enjoyed the awesome sunsets over the sound; took in the free ferry to Ocracoke island and enjoyed the beach and dining there; took our 4WD on the beach to the point near the bridge; and went to see the Wright's Brothers monument. That is when we could drag the kids away from the pool! Lots of things to see and do and you still feel like you are out of the way in a world of it's own. Thank you for allowing us to rent your beautiful home for the week!

We have been back for almost a week and I can finally post a note on here to tell everyone how much we LOVED this house. We had a great time! We had beautiful weather for 3 days and decent weather for 2 days. There were only 2 days that sucked. The house is amazing and has all of the amenities that we could have asked for. We had the pleasure of being in Rodanthe during the filming of a movie starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane called "Nights in Rodanthe" based on the book by Nicholas Sparks. The pier was closed for the first few days while they were filming but it was still pretty neat to be so close to a real movie set. We went to the beach one night during filming and they had the entire pier lit up like it was the middle of the day. After trying to spot the stars of the film, unsuccessfully, we walked home only to be greeted by the Ghost crabs of the Outerbanks. It was amazing to see all of those little creatures scurrying around everywhere. I don't know how you could see them without all of that light, but if you figure out how, you should really try to see them. It is breathtaking. Thank you to the Wilson's for allowing us to share their amazing home. I can only hope that we have the chance to return again someday. I hope that everyone has a great time and remember to treat the house like a castle. It is a small piece of heaven on earth.

Just got back from our weeks stay at Conscience Point yesterday. Loved it! The house is great, the Outer Banks are great. Our little neck of the woods was still somewhat deserted since it's the offseason, so it was nice to come back to relative solitude after a day of being out and about on the more populated areas. The weather cooperated giving us sunshine and decent temperatures. My kids and their friends got fried at the beach on Friday so it would look like they had "been somewhere." Needless to say, they are still paying that price. Some neighbors who have a house on the beach hosted a bonfire Tuesday night and the dolphins swam offshore for us on Friday. Couldn't have asked for a better time or a better place to stay. And as for Jodi and Dewey's comment, I don't know.....I left it pretty clean.

What is all the fuss about? My family (not us) rents a beach house every year and they have ALL given us the lecture about treating a beach house like you would your own home. Since the Wilsons cannot be on hand they have to trust Sun Realty to handle affairs related to their home. If Sun falls down on the job I don't find that in any way a reflection on the owners or the house. We are BEYOND excited about our May vacation and I could care less if I have to buy a toilet paper holder to properly outfit this beautiful house! I also want to say to anyone that complains about the location, just READ the description. It is very clear that the house does not front the ocean! I think Mr. Wilson said that to me about 10 times in the various exchanges we had before we rented. He made it crystal clear and that was after I READ it on their website! Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!!

WE are scheduled for a weeks Vacation in March and WERE greatly looking forward to it. We have been vacationing to the OBXS for 10 years now and have rented houses from Ocracoke to the Northern shores but this is the first time I was ever a little apprehensive about a vacation house I have chosen. The source of my concern was your newsletter stating what you found on your trip in October. It seems to me that if the Owner cannot get satisfaction from Sun Realty then it must be close to impossible for a paying guest. I sympathize with the damage you found but all of those were issues that should have been taken up with Sun Realty, deposits should have been kept and insurance claims should have been filed. I was disheartened by your newsletter and all I can say is that there will only be 3 people occupying your house on our stay and I can assure you that it will be left cleaner then when we got there.

Owners' Comment:

It must have come as quite a shock to some to receive a newsletter at all, let alone one with such direct language. You should have seen the first few versions of that newsletter! For better or worse, the damage was not severe enough to be submitted to an insurance company. Nor could we pinpoint the exact origin of certain damaged items. Thus, security deposits were all returned. Please do not be disheartened. Keep in mind that our October trip followed 26 weeks of constant occupancy. By comparison, your vacation is currently the first week of the 2007 season. You will be beneficiaries of a $300 deep clean just prior to your arrival. The newsletter was more directed towards our summer tenants. We believe that our September guests should have the same experience as our March guests. We would love to hear back from you after your trip. We suspect you will be pleasantly surprised.

P.S. How come nobody ever comments about the interesting facts, stories or recipes from our newsletters?!!

Things we were thankful for this Thanksgiving - 1. The safety of Conscience Point - built tough 2. Electric - 28 hours w/o it - my, how we do take things for granted. 3. Glad Conscience Point was NOT oceanfront - we watched flatbed trucks rescuing people right up the road who were stranded in 5' of sand on Route 12. 50' of the pier was gone. I've never seen the ocean so angry! Can't wait for May to return - yahoo!

This message is a little late but things have been busy since our vacation at Conscience Point back in May. My family had a wonderful time. It is such a beautiful place. It was my grandsons first trip to the beach so it was extra special. We traveled up and down the island and across the waters to Ockracoke and Roanole Island. There is certainly alot to see. My favorite thing was just to relax and enjoy the peace an quiet. If you get the chance GO!!! It's a great place to make a memory!

I've got a place in mind It's known as Conscience Point It's where the clouds roll by They say that nothin' really matters I'm goin' out to find Why people come this way And put the past behind

Definition of vacation: freedom from occupation, a period of time devoted to pleasure, rest, or relaxation My definition of vacation: ……………………………Conscience Point In this day of random and sometimes hectic ideas about vacations... to come to a place that has nothing but "amenities"...in mind was a wonderful experience. You can tell that the owners have the same affinity towards family and vacation as you do.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Conscience Point. Despite the cool weather we still had lots of sun and were able to enjoy the endless beaches on numerous occasions. The house was excellent and had all the ammenities one could ask for. We would recommend this place to anyone thinking of checking out the Outer Banks area of North Carolina.

Had a great two week stay at Conscience Point! (Even if it did snow). We loved traveling around the Outer Banks, especially riding on the beaches. Your house is fantastic, it is a vacation in itself! Thanks for a wonderful start to our retirement. We are already planning for a return trip in the fall.
